On Tuesday, July 14, the UB students took a trip to New York City.
First, we went to new York University. The campus is beautiful and urban, mainly located right in the middle of Greenwich Village. We checked out the dorms and the most amazing library that I personally have ever seen. It's so tall that the top floors are beyond your range of sight once you get inside. Some of the things NYU offers, such as it's great study abroad program and design-your-own-major options. Every student had their own opinion on the school, some good and a few negative.
"Just seeing the library made me make the decision to make this school one of my top choices."
-Sarah Helwa
The next stop in our New York experience was a quick trip to Trinity Church after our hasty lunch on the bus. Then was the Wall Street tour. Even if our tour guide moved a little fast, it sure was informative. The two-dollar bills given out as prizes for correct answers were pretty neat as well. The buildings and cobblestone streets were all so old-fashioned that one couldn't help get caught up in the history of what the tour guide was telling us. The tour ended with the Wall Street Bull which was the main object of many pictures.
"The Wall Street tour was fun because we got two-dollar bills, but the bull was my favorite part even though we only got five minutes at it."
-Chi Le
The last stop on the trip was South Seaside Street. Anyone can agree that this was the most fun part. After a quick bite of food, we got to wander around the boardwalk and the mall. It was a great time to just hang out with your friends and shop around. The mall's food was great, as well as the stores. At the end, some of the students pooled their money to buy a jingling skirt for all of us to share that some girls had been dancing on the boardwalk trying to sell all day. This hang time at the end was a lot of fun, and everyone would've spent the entire night there if we hadn't had to go home.
"The mall was absolutely amazing and the view of the Brooklyn bridge was, like, awe-inspiring."
-Mark Petrancosta
Verdict: The New York City trip was an absolute success.
